1/_\ DELETED AND ABANDONED SCENES

 (UPDATED OCTOBER 2024) /_\

A lot of gory cuts and closer shots during the predator killings... And Jerry Lambert's spinal column ripping...

In one of the trailers you can see a brief shot of the Voodoo Posse bald guy (Eric Mansker) being thrown away with the spear. In the final cut of the movie he was just pierced.Check out the script below.
EDIT June 2021
Eric Mansker played this henchman, wrongly credited as V. MCCrary, I've tried to contact Eric but learned that he sadly passed away in 2019.

On these pics you can see a more graphic shot of Vega being stabbed.Genitals partially visible.
(Thanks to Keith)

Theatrical :

IN THE R NC 17 VERSION THERE IS A SHOT OF RAMON VEGAs BLOOD DRIPPING ON HIS FACE AFTER HE GETS STABBED, AND GOLD TEETH RIPS HIS HEART OFF

You can see that the scorpio pulled up by the pred was gutted, that body area was hidden in the movie with what's left of his pants,a close shot was probably cut , you can spot the cavity in the movie from the side.

According to the director, a subplot concerning Leona Cantrells pregnancy was cut, in the scripts she calls a female friend at the precinct and later meets her lover in the bar.The guy is this one, from the on the set featurette.
The girl in purple outfit is Diana James
credited as Leona's Friend. There was two visions, the audience is aware that Leona is pregnant and that would increase the sensation of danger or the audience will learn it when the pred sees it, to reduce the lenght, the second vision was chosen.

Her dialogue in the making of extras is almost identical to the script, check it out there :

In the bar there is a BABY CAKE banderole about the pregnancy party, and Leona's 29 years old.

The car chase sequence where Harrigan tracks the Predator all the way to the slaughterhouse district was extensively longer. In the first draft
this scene is detailed :

The italian trailer and now the bluray animated menu displayed these pred POV shots of pedestrians, certainly related to deleted scenes.

(When Harrigan uses the phone).

Alternative LA shots used in trailers but not in the movie.

Different shot of the predator from a trailer.

A different shot on the cloacked predator before
he kills the columbians.

There are also scenes that were or weren't filmed but they exist in the scripts. The Thomas Brothers talked about one of them (not filmed) in their audio commentary :

When Harrigan is watching the stuffed animals in front of the taxidermy shop, the predator who was invisible and spying him came in the shop watched the stuffed animals (especially a lion) and understood that they were like his skull trophies, admiring them.(First script).

(Thanks to Predian for all the  the exclusive FIRST draft pics.)

Rumours say Anna from Predator had a couple of scenes where she is interrogated by Peter Keyes about the events of the first movie. She is still credited because you can see her picture in Keye's team van.She had a few lines.

First draft :

3rd draft :

In the script the hooker, played by pornstar Teri Weigel was also briefly displayed on a monitor, interrogated about the penthouse killing by the OWLF.

Keyes upper half floating, it was probably edited from the NC-17 theatrical cut since we don't see the other half falling...

In the trailer the disc does  not move in slow motion.Maybe they decided to use the slow motion on purpose, trying to make the upper half falls later, thus out of sight but it didn't help.

Rumours about the battle between El Scorpio and the predator being filmed eventually can stop
there, in the storyboard and all the scripts, this scene don't exist. Thanks to Voodoo Magic
for the ST sheets. I've been trying to contact the stuntmen in that scene without success. One of them confirmed me that action scene was never filmed, but prefer to remain anonymous.

Some deleted scenes are available in the Predator 2 dvd and bluray extras. I recommend the purchase. In the extras :

- Extended Tony Pope's Hard Core segments intercut with Danny Boy's funeral.Captain pilgrim owns Pope.

More footage of the street shootout from   different angles and text incrusted

LOBBY CARD showing more deleted footage from Dannys burial.

EXTENDED  Chief Heinemann and Harrigan
dialogue, thanks to @sonnybrian7
Heinemann used to be a ground cop and became a pencil pusher, both bits developping that backstory got cut to reduce the lenght of the movie.
UPDATE OCTOBER 2024

A scene is in the P2 novelization and was filmed;
(Thanks to Keith) Heinemann and Harrigan have a brief discussion. The dialogue is a direct continuation of the previous deleted bit in the office when Heinemann ask for teamwork with the "feds."
That scene is also in the shooting script :

Deleted scene still :

theatrical cut stills :

Extended Tony Pope ownage
thanks to @sonnybrian7

The predator walking back in the ship with King Willie's head, it was cut because they wanted to show the interior of the ship at the end of the movie, this is why you can only notice close shots
from the trophy cabinet. Here's the storyboard page about it and still.

Possibly deleted scene picture from the predator before he kills King Willie, when the water is disabbling the cloacking like in the previous movie or in the slaughterhouse.Exclusive still.

Update  July  2020
In this still you can see that the predator disarms Leona. After the predator notices the baby, the scene stops. There is a missing shot of
the predator dropping Leona on the ground.

Update october 2020

This lobby card displays a longer scene outside the penthouse, half of it was mixed up in the bar, but the first part was filmed, a small discussion between Harrigan and Leona + Danny boy

Thanks to Keith !

Update 12th september 2023

In the trailer we can see Danny Boy saying
"by hand", in the theatrical cut we can hear him saying it, but instead Harrigan is showed, changing his shirt .Thanks to Keith.

2 /_\  R.DAVID SMITH INTERVIEWS  /_\

         STUNTMAN/ACTOR

R.David Smith is a one armed stuntman, he performed the infamous, cgi free predator
falling scene. He used only a thin rope...Here's a story he posted a few years ago at The Hunter Lair forum in 2011 :

" My name is David Smith, I have been a one arm stuntman for over 25 years.
I received an acting scholarship at Paramount Studios in 1981 and was soon
casted as one of the leads in a B rate 3-D movie called “Metal Storm the
destruction of Jerrod syn, I played Capt Baal son of syn. It was a road
warrior type movie, in fact the guy who played Jerrod Syn my father was
one of the leads in Road warriors. Anyway to make a long story short,
there were no one arm stuntmen at the time and they were saying how are
we going to do the stunts for this guy and make it look good? I said
I’ll do them, I’ll do the stunts. I was born missing my left arm just
below the elbow/ I was always very athletic, played All-star second base
and a very good receiver and quarterback.

After this movie word spread to other make up effects
and stunt coordinators that there was this one arm
guy who would do anything for a buck. That’s how I
met Stan Winston who saw the value of an amputee for
many effects where a limb maybe eliminated for an
effect Stan was one of our biggest supporters, help us
to get the word out to many Producers in Hollywood
including Steven Spielberg, who used us for “Artificial
Intelligent. Stan was not only a friend, but in my eyes
a great man who helped us to change the way Hollywood
viewed amputees, as an asset not a liability.
Predator 2 was a true gift for me and helped me put
Stunts-Ability on the map and helped change the way
people saw people who were missing limbs. Helped
change the stigma that people who were missing limbs
or in a wheel chair were weak helpless poor victims.
I know you all can see that I’m not the best writer,
 so please bare with me!

Predator 2 was the wildest movie I had ever done, I was finally
working with the big boys, Stunt coordinator Gary Davis, Tony
Bruebaker and the 2 arm stuntman for the predator Brian Simpson.
These men were some of the best in the business and great guys
who truly supported me. Some of the stories I’m going to
share are not in order as they were shot. Now you have to
remember I didn’t start stunts-Ability until just after predator 2
, so if I had 2 arms I wouldn’t be working on this film, but I do
have one arm so I did. Close to the first week we had a meeting with
Gary, Stan Winston to discuss these 2-3 story fall, I’m not real
fond of heights, but for that kind of money hell yes. You get scale
per day which is a very good salary always over time, but stunt
players also got money per stunt ranging anywhere from $250.00 to $20,000,
I mean after P-2 I was able to buy a house!

So I showed up on location that afternoon in the worst part of Down
Town Los Angeles there is. Went over to Gary and they were rigging
some stunt gag, it was a 12 story building, I said hi Gary what are
you rigging, he said were rigging your fall, I said that’s not 2
stories! He said its 12 stories, he said 2 stories 12 stories if the
cable snaps you’ll be dead anyway! So I thought what the hell did I
get myself into. By the way a week earlier I spoke at a school where
they were merging a disabled school with a able bodied school and they
gave me a t-shirt and I told them I would where it during the fall,
big shot right? Well now I couldn’t back out. The great Tony Brubaker
who I first met when I coo-stared on an episode of A-Team came up to
me pulled me aside and said hey Dave if you don’t feel comfortable doing
this stunt just walk away and no one will think the less of you.
I said thanks Tony, but if I back out now how am I going to explain
this to 350 kids? I’d rather be a dead hero than a live chicken, he
laughed and said I got you!

It took 2 days to set this stunt up, I spent a lot of time on roof
looking down, boy that was way down and knew it was going to be one
hell of a ride! Well the night of the stunt, we had a meeting,
we were ready to go, at this time your training kicks in and they
focused on what needs to happen to sell this shot. I remember waiting
in my trailer, it must be what Astronauts experience, it’s a safe
launch to me it was will the cable hold or snap! They were putting
on my harness and rigging me to go, the make-up effect, Stan Winston’s
boys were putting on my predator stunt suit and every was making
sure everything was on and safety checked. The out fit, you stepped
in and zipped up the back, the stunt head went on and it clamped on
the back of head.

There was a small hole cut in the chest area for cable to hook on to
my harness. At this time I knew that this was the night! There was
a knock on the trailer door, it was 2 paramedics, they said straight
faced writing down some things, one asked what my blood type was,
the other was who should they contact if the cable snaps! I was joking,
but said get the hell out of here! I was to busy getting ready to
deal with my impending doom. So we went to the top of the building,
I was already wherein a like parachute harness underneath my predator
stunt suit, it was very busy on the roof, about 11-12 at night.
So I was ready as I could be, the Director Stephen Hopkins, I believe
don’t remember his last name, but he told me I needed to stay as
close to the building as I could so the claws, which were rigged
with chemical that would throw off sparks as they slide against
the building. The stunt crew got me rigged and adjusted me out over
the building only being held by the cable. The problem was the
harness was crushing my lower regions and was cutting off circulation
 to my legs.

I knew from experience it’s always hurry up and wait. I didn’t
fight it just let the cable do its job and relax, at this time
I was ready! There was a delay! I had to hang out there for
over 40 minutes, by this time I could not feel anything below
my waist. This concerned me because I knew there were window
sills underneath me and I needed to be able to move my legs,
stay close to the building in order to sell the shot! Well
when Tony Brubaker (Danny Glovers” stunt double was on the
ledge, we were finally ready! All the shots you see with
Danny were shot in the studio, a duplicate ledge was built
, and all predators close up were shot later as well.
So it was quite on the set! Tap is rolling,

speed Action! The cable was released, man it was quick,
I stayed as close as I could, get the claws to spark
and sure enough my legs were dead! Boom I hit a ledge
going down, I had a dear friend of mine and her husband
at the street level, her husband told me later she screamed!
So I was on the ground, couldn’t stand up, Gary Davis came
running over saying David are you alright? They all thought
I had at best broken my legs, I told him I was good just
couldn’t feel my legs because of circulation. He patted me
on the back said good job! I felt like God I’m really playing
with the big boys, who would ever thought that skinny one arm
boy would be working on the movie set, It changed my life forever.
Gary said you just got yourself $10,000.00 , they are checking
the shot now are you ready to go again if they need another
take? I said yes, lets do it 5 more times, I’ll be able to get
that Mercedes! Well unfortunately they got the shot, bummer,
my adrenaline was ready to go again and again!

The feeling I had was unexplainable, this is just one of my
stories about Predator 2.

I hope you all can read this and get an idea of what happened that night,
I apologize for any grammar errors or spelling."

/_\ EXCLUSIVE UPDATE 22 JUNE 2018 /_\

A NEW STORY ABOUT THE PREDATOR GOING THROUGHT THE WALL

Fred : "David, Can you tell me more details about the stunt when the predator goes throught the wall after the fall and ends up in the bathroom, also do you remember in wich scenes you was in the pred suit "

David : "I was in the  Predator suit quite a bit. I did the 12 story fall,
thengoing through the bathroom window. When we filmed the scene
of me going through the window, I knew that it was going to hurt.
The director was in a hurry,
pretty much all director are, I didn’t have a gator back to protect
my back. When we were ready to shoot I was holding on to a train
on a track then it it’s a barrier that stops on impact and your weight
blasts you trough the wall! I knew when I hit the floor I had hurt my back.

Had several compression fractures, but I want to finish the movie.
I just wrapped up and moved on to next Stunt. I also did the whole
scene with me putting the stuff on the wounded predator arm. I
was never eye to eye with Danny, Kevin the predator in costume was
8’3 and when I was in suit I was 7’3.

In the fight scene with Danny and Kevin because of the close proximity
the wide shots were all Kevin. I watched them film that. I was the body
at the end where all the predator come in to remove the dead predator.

Thank you my friend"

3 /_\  SCREEN COMPARISON VHS - LD - OPEN MATTE - BR /_\

Cinematographer Peter Levy won
the ASC award of the year for Predator 2 for
his outstanding work.

The 2nd french  Laser disc image offers a lot more screen information on top and bottom, wich was heavily cropped in the dvd and even more on the br.
Less on both sides of course.

It also has a lot more details visible, that the DNR deleted on the Bluray version, and a nice
theatrical-like colour grading, it makes up for the inferior picture quality (still better than a vhs) , besides the audio is an uncompressed delight, as the track has just one language in PCM

The UK LD offers a different colour grading and has the most screen info on the left side

4 /_\ THE "LOST" PREDATORS /_\

Danny Glover knew some of the Lakers and he asked them to be the movie.
Bunch of them are there.

- NATHANIEL BELLAMY JR
-MARK MCNAMARA
-VLADE DIVAC
-LIONEL DOUGLASS
...
-WYATT WEED ALSO PLAYED ONE OF THEM

"First of all, I WAS a predator in P2 and I AM signing my own photos. They are usually sold through Alleydweller, who happens to be my girlfriend. She already runs an Ebay store, so she had time and said she would take care of it for me. As I get my own site together, maybe I'll transfer the sales over, but for now she is the authorized site/seller for my pics.

I was a young guy trying to make it as an actor in early 1990 and I knew a stunt man named Brian Simpson. Brian had worked on the first Predator (more stories from him later) and he and I were the same size. When Brian was called on to do a second unit stunt shot, they needed someone else to fill his suit for that end scene. See, whenever the Predator wasn't in a shot with a human, it could often be Brian because he didn't need to appear huge. It was Brian who was jumping tree top to tree top in the red effects suit in the first film, for example.

Anyway, Brian suggested me right away because I had make-up and creature suit experience. I got the call, and literally the following day was on set at Fox and up to my neck in a predator suit. It was awesome, a fan boy's dream, but man was it hot and after 12-plus hours, I couldn't wait to get that suit off. I still have the pay stub. More details to follow.

I met Stan Winston briefly, and he was nice, but he was busy and moved on. Kevin Peter Hall was a great guy. I hate to use the word sweet, but he really was. He was a joker, and always seemed like he was smiling. More on him later as well.

I DID NOT do the dance. I remember it, but I feel like the other predators were cast earlier and had already been on set once, and they had already worked the dance out. I just sat back and went, "Huh?"

I am 6' 1", and in the suit with the feet and helmet, was probably 6' 5". I was still the smallest predator there. I was also one of only two white guys, I think. It seemed like every other guy was African-American, and TALL. I felt like a runt Predator. Think Los Angeles Lakers meets Billy Crystal.

Earlier this year, a group called the Drunken Zombies saw me promoting my film at a show, Famous Monsters Con in Indianapolis, I believe, and suggested I should start selling my Predator 2 pics. It sounded like a great idea, so I got on it and by Fright Night in Louisville, we were doing it. I also met Jeff Wickedbeard at Famous Monsters, and he was key in letting me know about the Lair and all of the other P1 and P2 fans out there."

5/_\ ALAN "DUTCH" SCHAEFFER /_\

Arnold was in the sequel as Dutch , Keyes talks about his squad when he enlights Harrigan about the background, but one of the monitors displays the image of Dutch  in the jungle after the bomb reduces the jungle to ashes.(From the original movie, wich means Dutch is in Pred2).

Dutch in Predator  1987

Arnold stated several times that he hated the script and the predator evolving inside an urban setting, but an old interview of Hopkins and the audio commentary stated the contrary.

Hopkins said Arnold loved the script but they didn't want to push back the filming of Kindergarten Cop so he couldn't get involved in Predator 2.(source : Marc Toullec interview).

Filming date of KC -30 May 1990 - 4 September 1990- But certain scenes wich weren't filmed in
a school, were filmed before that date.

Filming date of P2  -20 February 1990 - 8 June 1990-

T2 filming started in october.

Stephen Hopkins said he was relieved because if Arnold was ultimately in, massive script rewrites should've been made again.

At one point the Thomases imagined a sequel where the pred's brother found the arm of the original predator in the Jungle and had to do a detective job to find the human responsible, and avenge his brother.

Patrick Swayze was originally planned to play Harrigan but couldn't due to wounds caused by the filming of Road House.
Later  Steven Seagal was considered but Hopkins met the guy and didn't like him.

In the extras of the dvd Busey talks about Dutch's whereabouts after the first movie, but nobody know if he was serious, and also, it's not canon anyway.

There were also some stories about Dutch getting sick due to the radiations, but several scripts state that the predator bomb got no radioactive fallout.

The draft of Predators had an alternate ending with Dutch :

Update 21th november 2020

According to Steve Hopkins in the 30th anniversary interview, Dutch was supposed to be older in the intro, with white hair, a scar, playing golf as an  helicopter lands nearby.

6  /_\  KEVIN PETER HALL  /_\

Kevin was hands down the best predator actor in the suit, the sequels and spin off such as AVP, AVPR,  Predators and  The predator, proved it. Kevin was top billed actor in Predator 2 for the record.

Kevin Peter Hall  died on the 10 April 1991 one month short of his 36th birthday.

And 20 days before I watched the movie for the first time in cinema, as the France release date was the labor day, 1st may 1991.

History, to these days proved that there is no such thing as a predator movie without Hall,Winston studio and Silvestri.

Harrigan's extensive background can be spotted on the small computer screen, and if you listen to the computer's voice.

"Destruction of 11 patrol cars, 1 city bus, and 1city sweeper..."

Danny Boys girlfriend picture is glued to the computer. The girl on the picture is Lisa Lebenzon, Ruben Blades's gf at the time.

OWLF  Government  Team logo closer look.

During the subway massacre, the predator is showed crawling like when he was above the train and not cloacked while he is
in fact walking and cloacked.Strange editing or maybe they wanted the scene to be less confusing and show the pred progressing.

Random guy at a window when Harrigan is sliding.

People who grew up with John Woo's action masterpieces maybe noticed that in some scenes the track composed by Silvestri for the King Willie scene, was used (stolen?), in the f_cking great movie Hard Boiled.

THE AUSTRALIAN CINEMA POSTER

This very rare bird has one particularity, this is the only theatre poster wich displays  the head

not cropped. You can find a lot of posters with the full body but there aren't from cinemas.
You can find some aussie posters like this one but they are only 13 x 30 inches so beware.
This one on the picture is a 23 x 45 inches.

COLUMBIA EASTERN BUILDING

Initially, the story was set in NY, the predator was supposed to be on top of the Chrysler building, since the movie was eventually set in LA,  similar  Chrysler building's gargoyles heads design was added on the Columbia Eastern building for the shots.

HARRIGAN VS KEYES

Gary Busey was heavily injured, near death, during an accident before the filming of Predator2, but he asked to D.Glover to not hold his strenght when he pushed him against the pillar so the scene would be more credible. They had to do several takes.

THE MULTIPLE OWNAGES OF TONY POPE

There is a recurring joke with Toy Pope, he, or his van,  are getting owned by different characters and even by the predator throughout the movie.

First Harrigan crushes his van with his car,

Then Harrigan uses Pope's van to rip the door

Jerry owns Pope near the Penthouse,

Garber owns Pope

The predator smashes a monitor during the massacre, displaying Pope.

Pope's van roof is smashed  by the predator

I don't know which scenes of the movie he worked on, but I guess he was in the suit during the jumps, when Harrigan sent a grenade toward the predator in the slaughterhouse.Or when the predator is pushed on the roof. Waiting for Brian to reply to me.

WOLFEN (1981) A MOVIE THAT INSPIRED PREDATOR AND PREDATOR 2
11th December 2019

Wolfen is a great movie, but besides that It had most likely inspired our two real pred movies
in  some ways. Here's a list of details :

-Wolfen is set in cold NY , the place where P2 was supposed to be originally.

-The main character is a cop investigating grisly murders , his look ressembles
a mix between Billy in civil and military outfit.Headband, hairdo.

-The creature has its own POV fashion, with the "swoosh" and heartbeat sounds.

-During interrogation scenes, when the investigators were analyzing the suspects being interviewed, the video was like the Predator heat vision itself.

- the severed hand still moving and holding a gun (like Dillon)

- the cop's decapitated head's mouth still moving (kind of like King Willie's head screaming after it was severed).
- Edward James Olmos was like King Willie in that the the cop (Finney) had to go to him for      information about who's doing all the killing.Olmos character was talking about supernatural things and really left an impression.

- Finney gets spooked by birds while in the run-down building.

-The movie's cinematography focuses a lot on the height, rooftops, high bridge, buildings etc.

- Gregory Hines when analyzing the hair samples from the crime scene says "it isn't human" (kind of like the old woman pathologist in P2 saying the Pred's dart doesn't match anything in the periodic table).

- And of course, old Cain actually says "Predator".

Predator 2 was not a box office failure, but the results were not good enough to greenlight a sequel in the early nineties, the thanksgiving US release date for a hard R movie and the absence of Arnold were more aggravating factors.Initially Predator was supposed to be released about six months earlier, then for Xmas.
I'm glad that I've paid the ticket for it, the visuals of this movie were absolutely fantastic on the big screen.

 12 /_\ PREDATOR 2 : THE OTHER IDEA  /_\

Thomases video about their draft for
a predator movie set during WW2, a terrific
idea made for a sequel to the original movie ,but it could've been used also for a sequel to Predator 3, I wish I could read it.

13 /_\  THE 'ELDER' PREDATOR  GREYBACK/_\

During summer 1996 a comic book was released about the old pistol and how the elder got it, even it is not canonical, the graphic style is cool and the story is great and brief, the good thing is, even if the pred helped Adolini, he ultimately wanted to rip his spine, this is what preds do.This is in the spirit.

Talking about the flintlock, the consensus is that Harrigan got rewarded by the elder because he was good enough to kill his predator hunter. If you watch the scene carefully, the body language of the elder , who's leaving Harrigan and turning his back on him, you can notice that he has also a kind of second thought, then he grabs the pistol and throws it rather than handing it to him.He then speaks. He says "Take it" and adds another thing, not translated. The french dubbing team decided to translate it by "It is yours".To me that could also mean that 1 there is no bond between them, 2 giving away an item, even man made item, is uncommon, maybe even unique to this story. 3 It could be some kind of way to have the last word, it could be also some kind of hint for a rematch in the future. It's better if it remain free for interpretation anyway.

An interesting detail is that the elder is wearing on his forearm a piece of tissue representing the 2nd infantry of the US army and it must be from the Korea war given the parameters we know. There is a pair of american dog tags too, one of them is pierced.

Damaged american dog tags are hanging.

These details were kept on the Hot Toys action figure.

14 /_\ THE SPACESHIP /_\

THE BEST SPACESHIP ALONG WITH THE ONE IN SEEN IN THE ORIGINAL MOVIE,
DESPITE THE FACT THE THE STAFF WANTED TO CREATE SOMETHING NEW AND FRESH

The spaceship in Predator 2 has two qualities, 1 a very unique and cool design wich fit them, 2 you only see the trophy cabinet and a few pillars, the fog, we don't see the computers, control pannels, wires, etc, those stuffs usually make the spaceship generic looking. Mystery is the key word, Predator2 expanded the mytho perfectly, keeping you guessing, the sequels expanded it too much.

ONE COULD IMAGINE POTENCIAL INSPIRATION FROM  TOBE HOOPER'S

One of the playable characters in the best beat 'em up Alien vs Predator, the Capcom arcade game is basically almost the same pred we got in the movie, his  dialogues in the game are also a reflection of its character, quite agressive.

It features also the smart disc.

The 15th of July 2009,  this recording was published on Youtube, it's a very valuable
piece because we were so close to not even know it existed. You can see more of Harrigan, more of the costumes and more of the ship. Thanks again for this eerie one.

CGI CANNOT REACH THAT LEVEL.

VOODOO POSSE GANG

Edward Seaga is mentionned.
He was the fifth PrimeMinister of Jamaica, from 1980 to 1989,and the leader of the Jamaica Labour Party from 1974 to 2005. He served as leader of the opposition from 1974 to 1980, and again from 1989 until January 2005.

EL SCORPIO

TOTALLY CRAZY GUYS WITH A SCORPIO
INK ON THE FACE, THEY ARE LEAD BY
RAMON VEGA.

You might have noticed that Gene Hartman
puts some cocaine on his wound when entering
the armory, that's not in the script so I guess he
improvised , cocaine is very effective at restricting bleeding, or even stopping it completely. It's a vasoconstrictor , the pain be dulled and the bleeding stops.

THE CASSETTE

This music clip has several dialogues from the movie :

21  /_\ F.A.Q /_\

-How an old fat cop can defeat a Predator ?-

Harrigan is not old nor fat, he's a hothead hard core cop with
more than 15 years experience in the streets against brutal
gang wars, in a war zone.

About the melee fights, Harrigan, like Dutch or any othe humans
could'nt compete with the predator, even a wounded, one armed predator.

Harrigan defeated the predator with a surprise attack because the
predator felt humiliated by the slaughterhouse events,he managed
to put him on his knee and got overconfident for a brief moment,
enjoying too much his revenge.Harrigan is no Murtaugh by the way.

-Why the predator vision didn't change like in the original when his  mask was removed ?

They forgot to make it, or didn't have the time.

-The predator was an idiot, why would he activate his bomb if the fall ultimately
does not kill him when Harrigan cuts his arm with the disc ?-

The predator thought the fall would kill him, gravity seems to win against everyone as the piece of wood killing the pred proved it in the original film, also the predator didn't die only because he managed
to grab a drain pipe during his fall and he wasn't aware of the location of this pipe before activating the bomb, so logic is safe.

-When the predator toys with Harrigan in the cemetary  it's daylight, just after that the movie cuts to Leona and Jerry in the subway, Harrigan arrives  later by night, how the pred knew where to find them and how did he managed to do this that quick ?-

The cemetary scene and the subway massacre have
a certain amount of time between them, Harrigan is
dressed differently in both scenes, also the predator
spies Harrigan when he is making a call in the phone
booth, the pred heard the location of the station.

-Why does the predator turns his back toward Harrigan on the rooftop, when he used his respirator ? -

In the script and storyboards the pred was supposed
to leap on another rooftop and Harrigan was supposed
to follow him with difficulty, due to budget and time
constraint these scenes weren't filmed,in short
the predator is fataly wounded and needs his mask
after each leap he needs to recover, Harrigan
attacks him with a pipe, wich is sliced by the
disc, Harrigan hits the pred on the side of his face
and the pred punches him back and make him fall to
the ground, the pred takes another breath without turning hisback and this is when Harrigan charges him and tackles him and they both fall.

-Did Dutch really died from radiations ? -

Nope, in the scripts it's said that there was no nuclear fallout.Busey was greatly clowning around.Dutch's health and whereabouts are unknown.

-Real body count ?-

47

-The scene with the scorpios killed in the armory was cut ? -

Nope, it was never supposed to be filmed.

-The predator behaved differently from
the one in the original, why is that ?-

This new predator was designed as a different
individual from the same species. They decided
that this predator was younger than the original
and wanted to kill numerous people, he wanted
to make a big score, quickly.
"
(Thomas bros/Hopkins, audio commentary)

This is why he killed experienced thugs and cops
but also random armed civils like that old lady
in the subway. He seemed to get excitement and was
thrilled by his hunt, you can hear it when he first
spots Harrigan for example.
Since Predator 2 uses a lot of western thematics
one could say that this Predator was the equivalent
of Jesse James, who used to attack trains.

22 /_\ OUR STRUGGLE : WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE PREDATOR NATURE IN THE MOVIE FRANCHISE AFTER PREDATOR 2 ????/_\

In the first two movies, the predators were kinda sadistic, sore losers, enjoyed to hunt down humans if they were armed but they always had the upper hand besides it wasn't very difficult, the predators always attacked usually unaware preys while they were cloacked, unless an accident prevented their invisibility to work in the middle of a battle ,most preys weren't aware of the predator presence and were attacked in their back.

And when they found out some worthy preys, they toyed with them and only lost because their foes got lucky. The "code of honor" term is used  by Hopkins and the Thomas brothers audio commentaries, recorded 20 years after the release so they were influenced by the extended universe in the meantime. It's not even a statement, just barely mentioning "A sort of honor code".But they also stated that "the preds hunt for sport and entertainment", wich shows in the movies.

Just because an old lady carries a smith and wesson in the middle of blind panic doesn't make the fight fair, or when the predator drops his plasma shoulder cannon against Dutch, it's not even fair, given the strenght and stamina of the alien. And that's my point, the predators are not honorable, they just spice up their trophy games or make them last longer. They only take calculated risks.Brian the kid in the cemetary was about to get his face deleted by a plasma shoulder cannon shot just because he was standing there holding a uzi, luckily it was just a  toy.But if he was a child sodier in Africa or Germany in 1945 armed with a real weapon, he'd end up dead. In the novelization,

Leona wasn't spared because she was pregnant but because the predator didn't want to kill the son of the good fighter, he wanted him to grow up and to be hunted later. Preds can live a lot longer than us.

The Thomases created the concept this way, and mention in their audio commentaries that predators are like "sunday human hunters" who will kill tigers with a big rifle and think it's badass, and pose near the tiger dead body and take a picture in order to show off. Regulars "average joes".They hunt tigers because they're dangerous but they stay inside their cars.
Like a predator attacks human carrying guns, but remain invisible and don't give them any real chances. The elder gave Harrigan a pistol ? But the elder was watching the show not hunting Harrigan.
And if you watch the movie very carefully it didn't looked like something usual, it looked like a last moment decision,it was like the elder has a second thought, it seems that he was about to just leave.

In the storyboards, Harrigan finds the pistol on the ground after the spaceship is gone. It's only in the 3rd draft that the elder throwing the pistol idea emerges.

The cool Comic book 'Predator 1718' was made in 1996 by the way. After the making of P2.

Since 2004  predators in AVP  killed a few men, but the last predator teamed up with human.

In AVPR the Wolf was here to stop an alien outbreak , to protect humans and helped out some people also. In Predators the "classic pred" wanabe helped Royce when he freed him.In The Predator  the main predator will also team up with humans against hybrid predator who happens to have human DNA.

Paul Anderson stated in his audio commentary that he wanted the audience to relate to the preds, thus changing their facial features to look more human and more emotional.

In The Predator,i'm not even mentionning the preds in us army pants living in the military base, talking with translators and allowed to hunt at night if they come back to their quarters.... Thanks to the early script leakers and the negative fan reaction, this third act was cut and they filmed another very crappy third act in the forest to replace it.

Keep the preds behaviour like in the first two. Do like the original trailer voice over told us, "It kills for pleasure, it hunts for sport."

If you want to make up stuffs, use the extended universe. Videogames, novels, comics etc...

Prey was a new low, the pred was beyond stupid and looked like shit. I'm certain that we will never get a proper pred sequel.

Next garbage to come : Badlands probably

starring Elle Fanning, another choice lead by a political agenda. Nothing good can be born from a political agenda. ADI will again design the predator and it will look like shit.

24 /_\  THE PREDATOR 2018 VS THE REJECTED 'ARIZONA' SCRIPT /_\

An insider told me about a little bit about  the several drafts that were proposed for the predator, the producers hesitated before rejecting them, Dutch was featured in some of them, sometimes just as a legendary backstory but also some small cameo.

Fred Dekker was then contacted and wrote up his draft wich was later polished by Shane Black, this script was greenlighted because the people in charge liked the fact that it didn't feel like a predator movie :

https://variety.com/2017/film/features/stacey-snider-21st-century-fox-first-year-1202563799/

Interestingly one of the rejected script wich is nicknamed "The Arizona Script" in shady inner circles , is a very rare bird. The script proposed a story about an american cop teaming up reluctantly with a mexican cartel enforcer (Benicio Del Toro was considered and even approached at one point, maybe it was related, but loosely because Dekker's script was already chosen at the time).Their teammates are decimated by the predator(s).

The movie was set in present days, near the warm Arizona border, it brought something new to the table but also respected the spirit of the established background, with a pair of rival / classic predators hunting and ripping trophies from cops, criminals and even civils.Dutch was later called back to help by the government and got a piece of the action, killing one of the preds  but dying in the process.

If anyone has this script or more infos, please contact me.I think this really was the way to go after epic failures like both AVPs, Predators and The Predator.

Other scripts were considered ,they had a lot of ideas regarding  Dutch .Minister of Defence, other is Legend that elite forces are talking about. Other is some sort of a intelligence officer that hands out a mission and tips to defeat Predator.

I guess we'll never get a proper hard R Predator sequel hunting trophies now ?  Time will tell...

Comparison theatrical/script thanks to Predian

"Most of the characters, names and dialogue is the same though Jerry is named Tony and doesn't have any jokes.
The opening scene is with the Scorpian who is doing a deal for weapons when the Predator drops in. Harrigan's team arrive and enter the building (none of the opening firefight with the police in the streets).
The next different scene is in a warehouse rather than a penthouse apartment and there is no girl, here the guy is tied up by his wrists and is the shocked survivor found by Harrigan's team.
Danny dies the same but finds a Saint Christopher instead of the dart and the forensic scientist (a man) finds traces of a metallic oil on the victims which helps the Predator's blades cut stronger.
Harrigan is suspended after Danny's death and Tony (Jerry) and Leona continue to follow his orders.
The Predator also does a bit of walking, firstly through a park where he pick up the "give me some candy" line from a whining child. Harrigan and the others are driving while the Predator keeps up by running alongside. He follows Harrigan around the streets and goes into the taxidermy store to admire a stuffed lion.
King Willy dies firing and Uzi and his dreads are left on his skull. The trophy cabinet is a diamond of jelly which they are placed into leaving a space at the top for one more.
Leona also dies at the blades of the Predator on the subway, no mention of being pregnant as she is celebrating her 35 birthday with her husband and already has two children.
Peter Keyes lead the OWLF unit but doesn't enter the meat packing building, he watches on the screens and has all of Garber's lines. Dutch and Anna both gave one line on the screens. Their events were in 1984, this movie is set in 1994.
The Predator flees from the slaughterhouse with Harrigan pursuing across rooftops, firstly climbing the next building's extra five floors by the crumbling fire-escape. Then when the Predator jumps a forty foot gap to the next building Harrigan has to use a piece of cable to slide down two heavy duty power cables to catch up.
The old woman was to be played by Billy Crystal. Harrigan has to run down the stairs when the Predator escapes down the lift shaft, the fight agin in the basement and through a fake wall where the brickwork is a Predator hologram. Then through to an abandoned tunnel where they fight to the predator's death outside the spaceship and the clan appears and gives him a 1640 flintlock. He walks out of the lobby to reporters and police and walks round to find keyes standing by the newly exposed tunnel exit to say "we came so close".

 26 /_\ ALTERNATE VERSIONS AND CENSORSHIP/_\

VCD (Video CD) by Video Van is 103 minutes long and is heavily censored:

Some violence is intact while other parts are edited
Most of the profanity is left in the film
   ALTERED SCENE:
Danny Glover has unmasked the alien to curse atit,
the scene cuts to Predator throwing Danny   Glover  across the room.

The Indian theatrical release was cut by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) to remove 40% of street gang war shoot out, 50% of the sequence showing a naked man from the roof hanging upside down, the copulation of a man and a woman, 40% of the voodoo scene, the stabbing scene of a dead man shown hanging upside down from the rear and front and 40% the sequence showing the shootout in the subway to grant an 'A' (restricted to adults) certificate. The same version was released on video and to this day has not been released uncut since.
The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) in India had already cut the film to achieve an 'A' (restricted to adults) certificate for cinema and video viewing, but for TV viewings, it was cut further to remove visuals of vulgar movements and showing of the finger, catching below the hip, a man killed, bodies hanging including blood stains and the oozing of blood, cutting head and teasing lady for a 'U/A' (unrestricted public exhibition - but with parental guidance) certificate.

The German VHS rental release was cut by 1,5 minutes to secure a "Not under 18" rating. The uncut version was released on DVD with a SPIO/JK approval, later also on Blu-ray. In 2010, due to the release of Predators (2010), Fox released a heavily cut version (missing ca. 9 minutes of footage) on DVD, rated "Not under 16". In 2014, the film was removed from the index for youth endangering media and the uncut version was rated "Not under 18" by the FSK.

On initial OFLC classification in Australia, the film received an R rating. In order to bring the rating down to M, several scenes were cut for violence/language. The following scenes have now been re-instated for the R rated 2001 DVD release:

Two of the gang members at the start of the film sniff some cocaine while loading up their weaponry
In Harrigan's conversation with one of his superiors, he uses the words: "Cutting off my dick and shoving it up my ass"
The shot of the sacrificial knife entering Ramon Vega's stomach
Another shot of the character who is "netted" to the wall, this time being sprayed with gunfire from his friends
Another gang member is impaled on the Predator's wrist blade and lifted into the air
Jerry is startled by a skinned body hanging from the roof

An American tv version exists, it's cut but has no filler scenes to make up for the lenght.

There is 20 minutes version, for airports, that cut each time a profanity is uttered ,Stephen Hopkins makes fun of it in the audio commentary. Not sure if this version exists.

The director confirmed what he already said in the magazine Starburst back in the days ,1/3 of the copies released in american cinemas were uncut but with  unfinished effects (Iowa), they might've been the R NC 17 version ? If anyone has good memory.

He states again the Arnie and Danny had to be both in the movie  (already stated in the audio commentary).

Also the new stuffs : due to The Predator 2018's flop, a 70 mil new cut of Predator 2 wasn't released as planned this year.Cinematographer  Peter Levy worked on it.

And a brief depiction of the intro if Arnie could've been in the movie, "cool cheese".
